Emily Present

Hello! I’m a writer and third generation New Yorker of Jewish-Hungarian descent (ask me about Kokosh :)).

While I have you here:

  • I’m the author of Cherry Lime Gospel (Bottlecap Press, 2020), which was featured in NYLON and New York Magazine. From 2014–2024, I co-founded and served as Managing Editor of the online literary magazine G*MOB (formerly GlitterMOB).

  • I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from Stony Brook University, where I was the recipient of The Martell Prize and taught undergraduate courses. I’ve participated in workshops including The Kenyon Review Writers Workshop and Community of Writers, among others.

  • When I’m not writing (or trying to!), you might find me in the park with my dog Batman, training Muay Thai, painting, dancing to disco, checking out other people’s art, rooting for the Knicks, or eavesdropping on the subway in search of good gossip.

  • I’m currently at work on my debut novel and a full-length poetry collection (which I hope to finish not too many years from now).
